That's true that each person has specific needs for a space he or she lives in. Everyone of us is an individual and therefore designing an elegant and efficient living space is a very complex and serious issue not to be underestimated. So what is modern house design for you?

To each person, the description of “modern house” connotes something different. Modern house designs offer clean lines, simple proportions, open plans and abundant natural light and are descendants of the International Style, which developed in the 1920s. Flat or shallow-pitched roofs, large expanses of glass, strong connections to outdoor space, and spare, unornamented walls are distinguishing characteristics. The lot is often incorporated into the design, turning outdoor space into an alfresco living room. Mid-century modern houses are increasingly valued for their easy indoor-outdoor flow and provide inspiration for today's Modern home designs.

I can relate to a lot of what is said here.

Honestly, my idea of modern living is an open concept, 2-level condo. Even being particular to EIFS myself, I would rather full-glass walls, open to a view of a sort of suburban/city mixture.

Carbon-neutral buildings, though not so much an aesthetic aspect, is quickly becoming a standard for 'modern living'

i agree with angela, however i would add in that modern house does not only mean a FLashy house, it has to be Simple with light colors and should be an eye candy with the antique interior of the house.

I think a modern house is pretty much anything that's been built within the last few years. You can have different "styles" of a modern house, including an older look, however it's still "modern", in my opinion.

Hi all,

I just changed my door hardware at dayorishardware.com and that completely change the look of my doors.

It is the only website I found that provide only modern door hardware.

They also have modern door pulls, modern doorbells and contemporary door stops.

When I think of "modern design," the first thing that comes to mind is minimalism. I think of sleek, straight lines, block colors, and clean designs. I don't necessarily think of a house that's been built in the last few years, but rather the interior design of the house.
