Any suggestions on how to read an Acad2004 file.
Should we have the consultant send us a R2002 file? _________________ robert d. wease ra, ncarb

Have the consultant Save AS R2002 or whatever. They should be used to that since not everyone uses AC2004, even in the WinTel world.
Option is to purchase a copy of AC2004 or the lite version and roll yer own Save As... |

Autodesk completely changed the dwg format, and added file compression, with ACAD 2004. The only program I know of that can read it is (of course) ACAD 2004 or 2005.
Ask the consultant to Save As > ACAD 2000 if he has plain AutoCAD or LT. If he is using Architectural Desktop 2004, he will have to Export to AutoCAD > 2000 Format. |
