1. The Unfinished Hardwood Flooring
Unfinished solid hardwood flooring is a choice a private customer (or an architect / interior designer) can make for house’s floor.
Unfinished flooring comes as a raw piece of wood (having a few profiles on edges) after a number of processing phases it passes at the flooring factory. No lacquer is applied on it. It will be finished (sanded and lacquered) in the room after installation. Finishing requires specialized craftsmen using specific tools.
It can be laid in a wide range of patterns and finished in a large number of colors and sheens. The job-site sanding allows a smooth surface to be obtained.
In time different damages can occur to such a solid unfinished hardwood flooring – but all of these can be repaired and the floor is brought to a new life.
2. Decorative handcrafted flooring elements to match unfinished hardwood flooring.
Additionally hardwood borders and medallions can be added to create an improved aesthetic. Of course a house will bear the mark of this aesthetically improved hardwood flooring on years to come and will count in the case of a sale.
Of course it is extremely important how and what hardwood borders or medallions are added. Because a remarkable design it’s a matter of components, size, proportions and color combinations. Each of these is important.
One can have a look at NWFA’s website and pick hundreds of member websites that publish this kind of handcrafted additions like the hardwood borders and the medallions but remarkable works are few.
