This is a tough one because most celebrity architects are overrated.

Gehry is definitely in the top three and most likely #1.

Who else is there? Are you talking about mainstream celebrity or architecture student celebrity -- big difference. The list of the latter changes every school term.

Does dead count? Are you talking about celebs of all time?

Regardless, Gehry is in the top 3 no matter how you cut it and you'd have to work reak hard ot prove to me that he's not #1.

I was a Gehry fan. His earlier works were imaginative and humerous. His titanium Guggenheim in Bilbao is a masterpiece.

And now, as we all know, every client, every town wants a 'Gehry'. He has allowed himself to become streotyped, something he could surely avoid if he wanted to. He's certainly up there amongst the best overrated masters.

How about a nomination the late Philip Johnson, famous for a 1940's glass house and ...erm ...the 'talent' for keeping breathing a long time!

Libeskind!

Just had a lecture with him. He proudly proclaimed that his museum in Denver probably had the greatest cantilever in Architecture......ever. Talk about blowing your own trumpet. When somebody asked the honest question "do you think about how people are going to clean the windows in your buildings" he replied "yes, I have to think about that or else my buildings would never get built" but he never actually answered the bloody question! Another question he fobbed off with an answer about how his wife was wonderful to awws from the crowd.
