WildTools 9 Documentation, Feedback Wanted

I'd sure like to take a look at the Notes that cover the changes in ver. 9, but when I click on the link to go to the Public Folder, my Mail program launches. The link does not take me to the Public Folder.

Am I missing the obvious?

Copy the text rather than clicking on it, then in the Finder, go to the "Go" menu --> iDisk--> Other User's Public Folder and paste the text in there.

It might work for you however at the moment I am being asked for a password. But that's where you need to put the text.

The integration of Safari and everything else Mac has got a little too smart for itself so whenever it sees blah@blah it thinks it must be an email address due to the @. That's why Mail is opened when you click on the text.

.Mac should never have included an @ in each user's directory structure. It is just plain dumb.

Derek has it right, except that he didn't follow his own instructions!

You will be asked for a password if you choose to Go to Other User's iDisk, which is not going to work for you.

But if you choose Go to Other User's Public Folder then you will not be asked for a password and only have to type "alfredscott". This is what you should be doing.

On the changes in WT9, the documentation notes are intended for other people who are maintaining a foreign-language copy of the WildTools manual. So this just is a list of parts of the manual that have been changed.

In the manual itself, there's the usual "What's New" section, which is a shorter list than normal but it is not really a good look into what is really new in WildTools because a few lines in there about general improvements to tools don't come close to describing these things. It's a good list of what the new tools and features are.

But what you will not be able to get from this brief listing is the breadth of the changes in the screen display that you see in the process of drawing. There are a huge number of change and in my development notes they make for long, boring lists of tools that have been changed. And they are all things that you can best understand by seeing them rather than reading about them in words.

I like to summarize things for people by explaining that the last two revisions of both PowerCADD and WildTools were major upgrades in terms of features and improvements, and these new versions of PowerCADD and WildTools are roughly equivalent in the sense that they are also major upgrades. As always, there will be things that you won't care about and others that you will.

It's just that the improvements don't lend themselves to lists. You'll see.
