I'm on the idea of a generally cube shaped house, but I want a sloped roof for practical purposes. Have any of you seen good photographic reference for houses shaped like these, particulary 4-7 (or other variations)
thanks.

My garden shed is similar to No.4, probably the simplest and most prosaic of your examples.
You will find that, in reality, most 'flat' roofs have a slope, though often 1 or 2 degrees is enough. The problem arises if a truly flat roof structure sags, settles or changes shape,in which case you may end up with a permanent puddle of water on the roof.
Often houses will have a parapet around the edge, thereby giving the impression they are square because the pitched roof is hidden. I'm thinking particularly of Georgian and Victorian townhouses in the UK, but I'm sure there are plenty of similar examples in the colonies |
