Hi,

I am a Fine Art student, but of late I have been looking to architecture and interiors for my work, this has resulted in a lot of drawings and paintings of twisted and surreal architecture.

My work can be seen here-

http://thesurrealdemon.chronetal.co.uk

I want to do some research into real architects and their architectue, I wondered if people could suggest any particularly interesting ones? Dead or alive.

Thanks

YOUR PIECE OF ART IS GOOD NO DOUBT, BUT I WAS NOT VERY MUCH ABLE TO INTERPRET IT.
THERE IS TADAO ANDO WHO'S PLAY WITH LLIGHT IS VERY INTERESTING.
CARLO SCARPA IS ONE ARHITECT WHOSE 3 DIMENSIONAL VOLUME IS ALSO LIKE A GREAT COMPOSITION OR A PAINTING. HIS WORK ALSO IS GREAT IN TERMS OF PLAY OF LIGHT.
NARI GANDHI IS AN ARCHITECT WHOSE ARCHITECTURE IS MOST DIFFICULT TO INTERPRET. PROBABLY HIS WORKS WILL INSPIRE U THE MOST.

i think our buddy archytorture has mentioned all the Big Names Very Happy hehe

but, what i think. as long as you are not an architecture student, i might suggest an easier way rather than research on Architects themselves.

look through architecture magazines, if you can find issues for magazines like "Architectural Record" you will be able to go through all these names and more, and understand alot more about architecture and see lots of ideas and beautiful examples of architecture.

i'm sure if you read one copy, you'll like it and want to see more and at the same time be able to build a better understanding of this type of ART Cool

I Love your art!!! My favorite art movement is surrealism.

I think you would be very interested in the Art Nouveau architecture of Gaudi and the american architect Hubbell. It is worth a trip to Barcelona just to see Gaudi's work. Also, medieval gothic architecture such as Chartres' Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is worth a peek.

Thanks again. Very Happy

PS, yes Gaudi is amazing, and I have had the pleasure of visiting Notre Dame, although not for some time.

You may wish to check out this site: www.ecotecture.com
Its about a novel geometric structure system that serves as a foundation for a revolutionary architecture. Future articles are to show how to construct the building panels.
