as far as i am concern, those softwares are just tools. Imagine you just about to paint on a blank canvas, the brushes etc you hold no matter what brand it is, its just a tool, the end of the day the result will depends on the artist who use it.
as for me, i am using 3ds Max and vray, simply because i know how to use it better then any other softwares.
