What is the best job listing site, or other approach, to finding a young, experieced, licensed architect wants to launch his/her professional career in the arena of residential design, especially related to New Urbanism concepts, willing to relocate to Virginia Beach, VA. I have tried career careerbuilders.com, architectsonline, some state AIA sites. This position is ready for a young entrepreneur to shape the firm as well as do the projects.

I think that you are presenting an oximoron, "young, experieced, licensed".

You should eliminate the word "young" and just look for a qualified individual, a headhuntter may be required to help you.

It wouldn't hurt to try the Jobs section of this site with a well-worded ad. It's currently free, and DesignCommunity has really quite a bit more architecture traffic than the other sites you mention.

We all read the posts, but don't necessarily respond.

Recruiting is tough. I am in charge of program for my local CSI chapter.

Last year I brought in the owner/head coach of the local minor league hockey team to discuss teambuilding. (The minors lose their entire roster at the end of each season.... with the except of a couple they can hold) Very good attendance and engaging.

This year I was thinking about having the local college football coach come talk about recruiting. He had 27 out of 28 winning seasons and numerous national championships at the lower divisions. I thought it would be interesting on how he recruits kids to come to Dayton, Ohio and pay $30,000 a year to go to school (remember - no scholarships below DIV 1) and how he finds the quality of kid he wants for his program......

..... sound like a familar problem. Laughing

I think you are looking for someone with lots of experience (8- 10, maybe more) and licensed with NCARB certification. That experience needs to have residential. You might think about pirating someone from one of the top residential firms or even a national builder/developer. Have you thought of posting an ad in Builder Magazine or with the National HBA
