I think this one is going to be bad because of flooding. I was at the beach today, 800 miles away, and we were flooded out. I have never seen flooding this bad before!
I'd like to point out that we were 800 miles away from the eye, and we are experiencing major flooding of our coastal regions. This is a serious storm, and if there is anyone left out there that is below 30 feet from sea level near the gulf region coast you might want to consider the following video and use it to approximate what the water will be when it gets to you. Old fishermans trick, but we aren't using radio's anymore. Now it's technology!
I've included a video below which shows evidence of Gustav flooding already occurring in florida while the eye is 800 miles away. This was take on aug 31 2008 at 3:00pm eastern time. The location is Pine Island, Hernando County Florida.

| Thanks for the dispatch! While it looks like the larger forms of potential disaster have thankfully been dodged, Gustav has been a substantial hurricane - hundreds of thousands of displaced people are days from being able to go home - and the finer-grain reports of more widely-distributed damage are still not in yet. I'm staying tuned for a while yet. |
