I have had the opportunity to be involved in the planning and approval process of a new Serbian Orthodox Church here in Calgary.

Along with the visualization of the building itself, my client wanted to show the development of the 4 acre property showing a soccer field, picnic area, playground and walking path.

Although I have access to other tools, I decided to do all the modeling work for this one in Sketchup, and render it out directly into the Maxwell renderer.

Here are a few of the renderings:

Calgary eh? I love that town, Canada's Denver. Plenty of wood near Banff.

Those drawings look expensive. What materials?

Thanks for your comments. Nice image. It's not high resolution enough to tell if it is a rendering or a photo.

The materials are varied. Half of the materials like the asphalt and the tree bark, as well as the solid colors are built right into Sketchup and then converted to maxwell materials.

The leaves on the first image are scanned from a tree in the front yard. The grass is donated by "Bubbaloo" on the Maxwell Render forum. There is also a Maxwell default and MXM library mat thrown in every now and then.

If you are referring to the real materials, the columns will have gold leaf on them then wood, black cultured stone on the base and then Stucco on the main building.

It's just another image I found by searching Serbian Orthodox Chuches and it is. I found it to be of a higher order of thought than your images. Is starting from scratch out of the question?
My niece is serbian orthodox, I'll give her a shout for some ideas to help. Speaking of sketchup, a buddy of mine is part of some huge utopianesque village, silly Disney-like developement just outside Calagy. All modeled on sketchup. The Stampede is a blast!

This church is a direct copy of a traditional Serbian Orthodox in Europe.

I appreciate your willingness to collaborate, and I personally would be interested, but my client is way past that stage now. This is what they are building.

are you so sure? You'll never hear me say that. I don't believe much of anything until it's built.

Creasia,
Great rendering.
See the domes on this orthodox church at
http://strombergarchitectural.com/projects/st--johns
Fiberglass or GFRC domes for orthodox churches.
The custom fiberglass domes shown are in Wisconsin and have endured years of heavy snow. They allow a great deal of architectural design freedom.
