Any suggestions on how to read an Acad2004 file.

Should we have the consultant send us a R2002 file?

Have the consultant Save AS R2002 or whatever. They should be used to that since not everyone uses AC2004, even in the WinTel world.

Option is to purchase a copy of AC2004 or the lite version and roll yer own Save As...

Autodesk completely changed the dwg format, and added file compression, with ACAD 2004. The only program I know of that can read it is (of course) ACAD 2004 or 2005.

Ask the consultant to Save As > ACAD 2000 if he has plain AutoCAD or LT. If he is using Architectural Desktop 2004, he will have to Export to AutoCAD > 2000 Format.
