Anyone know of a good STC rating calculator?
I'm aware of the CRC-IRC studies, but I specifically need to know what impact there would be by not continuing gyp board to the structural deck (stopping only at the drop-in ceiling).
Obviously this would lower the STC. Any idea how much? right now we're looking at metal stud, batt insulated design with gyp boards on both sides.
Thanks,

I found this one (see link) but it does not clarify if it requires the wallsystem to the underside of deck or not. I was always under the imrpession that if you build the ceiling in similar system then you could conceivably control the total sound isolation, which is why we usually specify batt in walls AND above ceiling, regardless if lay-in acoust tile or gyp wallboard.

But I am certain it is best to take gyp wallboard all the way to the deck in any case...
