lol sure... I hope it comes tomorrow. I read the first couple of pages on google or amazon and it really got me thinking.
It was the part about what to think about depending on where you live. Like where is the chimney (probably spelled wrong) located in the house it affects the temparture in the whole house etc... I think im going to love this book and i actually dont read books at all |

That is going to have to change ...... there is a lot of reading in architecture...... if you want to know what your doing.... there are plenty of architects who don't read and it shows in their work. |

jp,
I'm curious, what other programs did you apply to? It will also help if you included a reason for choosing these schools as well. |

Yeah i know that will have to change lol... I didn't know that you had to read lots of books, but now i do and will work on it.
^^^ By programs do you mean colleges? If so, I actually only applied to UNCC, I know is somewhat dumb to do that, since you will want to as many colleges as you can think of, but I don't really know. One of the obvious reason was that i live in NC so this university is close from home. And one other reason was that i was told, and actually read an article about the College of Architecture in UNCC that made me decide that there is where i wanted to go.
I didn't do much research on other universities, but the ones I saw didn't appeal to me. |

| From just quickly looking at your work, it appears that you have a lot of potential in this field. Nothing ruins potential quicker than a bad relationship with your school program. When I was a student, I've often heard gripes about why isn't our program more similar to another. Your responsibility as a student is to find a program that you feel will fit your talent and goals. It is important for you to understand that the school program is not going to change for you. I attended IIT because of my desire to understand Mie's philosophy. Find what inspires you first, then find the school that will nurture that. A little work right now will pay off in more ways than you can imagine. This will also help establish your work habit in the future as well. |

Thanks Madimel. And also thanks for the adive, I when I go to the interview, I will make sure to ask some questions about how everything works in there to see if I would like it. Of course I will have to be accepted first even if I like it.
I will also recieve a tour of the whole architecture college.
BTW Phansford. I just got the Book. Looks really interesting and I will start reading tonight. I already planned to use my sticky notecards (which i havnt use) and make notes of every one or two pages |

Did you already submit a portfolio for admission? If so, I don't think there is a need. Otherwise, you could if you wanted to. |

That's a yes.
Have a mix of your "art" (pencil sketches, photos, painting, and so on) and then bring some of your architectural designs. What is important about these designs is that you did them outside off a class assignment. You did them on your own and for your own growth. I think there will be a lot of discussion about the designs. |

Bring anything that looks good and that you can explain and defend if asked to. Don't bring ten versions of the same design. Pick the best stuff, a few pieces, and the stories to go with them. If you have drawn plans of these houses, that would be very useful to their defense.
Best of luck !

Well I guess I will have to work on how to explain them... And I probably will have to do a plan, the thing is that I dont really know how plans are made. But I guess I can do a sketch of what im trying to do.
Thanks, and well I was thinking of just taking this design (in the post) (Which i haven recieve any comments or feedbacks on ) and this one...

jp -- In the world of architecture, only a fool would attempt a criticism of a building design without knowledge of the layout and function of the interior, as shown by the floor plan. Absent that, we can only be "exterior decorators," a non-existent job description. We must drive home to you the point that architectural design is about enclosing space, with the function of that space the principle driver of building design -- as ever it has been from the cave-and-temple days forward. Nobody built a barn unless they needed to house and protect something. While exterior appearance is of course important, it follows from what the building is trying to be, which starts with the "program" (or "brief" as it is known in Great Britain). The exterior comes last -- though there have certainly been times and places, as at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in the latter Nineteenth Century, when exterior form has very nearly driven the building program. Such design thinking is essentially discredited in the world of architecture, and has been for the better part of a hundred years.
If you have not received the serious attention you desire, this might be the reason.

well i didnt mean serious response lol... But I tried to explain how the interior was. I guess it was in the other forum... (Architecture student) something like that.
I did actually somewhat started from the inside out in this design. I will try to make some kind of plan for it this week.
Thanks for the reply though |
