Does anyone know about the MArch program from the Univ. of Hong Kong? I've recently applied to the program..and am wondering if anyone would know about the reputation of its Architecture Department.
I obtained a BFA in architectural studies from a public university in massachusetts, in order for me to excel in this field, getting my master is a must. However, is it too risky to get a degree from oversea? Whereas, all the school in the US might have a lot more to offer?
Why HK? Because I was born there, and I want a change of environment, but I do want to come back to the states afterward. Since China is growing so rapidly as well, I thought this might worth a chance to experience the architectural/cultural differences..
But is it worth it? |

| If you want to get licensed in the states you'd be a lot better off getting a NAAB-accredited degree here. |

| I visited the campus and talked to the faculty and students on several occasions while I worked in an architectural office in Hong Kong. From what I could gather, the program has much of its focus on helping students to pass the Royal Hong Kong Architectural Registration Exams. But that was prior to the communist take over, so I don't know what have changed since. I did find that having a "foreign" degree helped me land a job over there easily. I also recently worked with a US firm that does work in China, and the Chinese clients tend to favor foreign architects. If it is your intention to work in China/Hong Kong, it might be more beneficial for you to get your degree in the US. |

China is a good place.You can experience different culture there.
It's said that china becomes the biggest international market for architect.

| No one is questioning whether China is a good place to work or not. We're discussing the architectural program in Chinese Universities. I've spoke with two Chinese students attending architectural graduate school here and they were not equipped to handle the criticism and scrutiny in American schools. |
