If you are any one you know is looking for Autocad Alternative, check out Progecad at http://www.buypcsoft.com/product.asp?ProductID=2420

This program is awesome and cost a fraction of Autocad.

there are lots of free versions of that

it is a clone does everything autocad does even with it's own lisp

but i prefer Rhinoceros, as just a clone will not do, i need a twist of lime too

Apples and oranges.

progeCAD is good for low cost AutoCAD like 2D drafting.

Rhino is a 3D complex surfacing modeler.

progecad smart is FREE and the same as autocad at all 2d even down to the commands

Rhinoceros may be the most powerful yet intuitive modeler but it is also great at 2d and interoperability to most all other applications

The progeCAD Smart version is only free for anyone not using it for business use. It is just as illegal to use Smart for commercial use as it is to use a cracked/stolen version of Rhino (although in some countries like China and India that hardly has any meaning).

progeCAD Professional is recommended for business use.

Everyone has their preference, but IMHO using Rhino for 2D is like using progeCAD for 3D. But religion can drive a man to do anything I guess...

wanna bet?

as a Bright i will prove you wrong. wanna have a 2d off?

and where does it say Open Source is Not ok for commercial use?

Rhinoceros educational versions are valid for commercial use at 140$ i know this and if what you say is true and Intellicads GPL license is being violated and you would have to purchase IntelliCad i would pick rhino over it each time, and not only because i am not a fan of clone-ware Wink

not to mention from my quick research the BSA membership is not something Caddit is part of, so that information is only found on your blog

see: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=kh6&q=caddit+BSA+membership&btnG=Search

http://www.bsa.org/country/BSA%20and%20Members/Our%20Members.aspx

seems like a cheap marketing trick to make more sales or a faux threat. Can you point me to one case of somebody being sued by intellicad other than autodesk themselfs being counter sued over truedwg?

After a very quick web search.... Rolling Eyes

http://www.progecad.com/compra/index.asp?left=prodotti/eng_progecad2008smart&abspage=1&lang=eng

"*Private use Only: progeCAD 2008 Smart! is for private, non-commercial use only. The use of progeCAD 2008 Smart! within any organization or for commercial and business purposes is strictly prohibited."

From there own web site no less.

It is not only ProgeCAD is a best program for AutoCAD alternative. As you can check the IntelliCAD products,GStarICAD(http://www.staricad.com),Cadian or what ever, they all advertise with AutoCAD alternative. And As far as 2D cad concerned, it truly is the AutoCAD alternative. No much difference with them.

This is the last time I'm going to waste time on this thread:

I thought we were talking about 2D and 3D, but look where this is going. This is a shame. We make good CAD software free for personal use, and this is the thanks we get. Not a Bright, Antisthenes - lost your own 2d off: IntelliCAD is not open source to the general public. Your claim to the GPL is absolute nonsense - which looks par for several of your IntelliCAD-related posts (GPL stands for Gnu Public License, under which niether IntelliCAD nor progeCAD source has *ever* been released). In fact, many lands prosecute illegals directly. Sounds like some cads here Sad

If we discontinue progeCAD Smart because of abuse, we'll just tell all the legitimate charities, students and organisations that need it to blame someone here and link them to this discussion. Sounds fair to me, but I'll check with the others Smile

As for "not much difference between them", I do disagree. We have many happy progeCAD users who used other distributions and found a few quite shocking in comparison. But hey, it's your money.

if it is not open source i will stop talking it up then.

when ODA started charging for membership maybe i should have known something was up.

so you don't think BricsCad architecutrals is better?
