I am interested in doing research on specific architects or styles and books. I am interested in fiction, not coffee table books or any other non-fiction. I am especially interested in Gaudi, Mackentosh, Art Noveau and Bilboa Museum of Modern Art.

I would appreciate any advice or leads as this is still in the thinking stages, and I have plenty of time to develop the idea and or alter this seedling of an idea.

I appreciate u for having intrest in doing a research kind of work which is bit passive. To comment I do not have much knowledge about antoni -gaudi but after going through your mail one thing I observed is that u are basically more intrested in art nouveau style. I came to this conclusion as your intrest in antony gaudi, his works and art nouveau style share a common character.
As Antony gaudi experimented on art nouveau style to max. extent and created a whole new trend a research on his works and exclusively art nouveau style is very advisable.

Hi there..
From the names that you mention, it would be more interesting to study the roots of these different styles. What was it that inspired these architects to come up with a certain independent vocabulory. And even if one does try to put them into one category and call them the art nouveau or whatever..., their styles are still very diferent.

The whole effort of classifying, segregating and labelling these different styles in history can have only one advantage- to find some string of continuity, to link up these styles in order to find a story in them. And this has been done so many times. All our history books talk about the evolution of styles. I think you should really try to move away from the "style and age' factor and just talk about architects individually. dont try to link them up.

Read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Read Walden by Thorea; of course, that's non-fiction.
