Breaking News: 1) Deerbrook Withdrawn 2) Threat on reapp.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Another dramatic development in Headwaters preservation:

The Beverys have withdrawn the current PUD application for the Amazon Creek Headwaters Keystone property!

This is great news, and it means *** CANCELATION *** of the APRIL 25, 2007 Public Hearing.

Please come instead to our neighborhood annual elections meeting on May 8, 2007, and the eminent domain ordinance hearing expected on May 21.

AND PLEASE NOTE:

In the letter of withdrawal from Bill Kloos, the developer's attorney, is a kind of threat to bring back the Beverly PUD application under the "Needed Housing" standards of the city code.

This is a huge can of worms, if it comes to pass. More on that later, and we'll be sure to have all the latest at our SEN general meeting on May 8.

Meanwhile the eminent domain branch is only more urgent and important. Please write to the mayor, city councilors, Register Guard, and Eugene Weekly, and let them know how much you care, and why Amazon Creek Headwaters is just the kind of rare special case where the city really needs to step in with eminent domain for the community interest.

If you have friends in other parts of town can write in too, their words -- to their own councilors -- are likely to get double-weighted.

Never a dull moment around here!

:-)

all best,

Kevin
