OT: Book review of book written by our own Steve Mouzon

PowerCADD/WildTools users may have seen the phenomenal drawings by Steve Mouzon in the PowerCADD Drawing Room. Steve did these drawings when he was an architect in Huntsville, Alabama, and you can tell that he’s a bit of a perfectionist. Steve grew tired of designing ‘one more metal building’ and moved to Florida where he reinvented himself with a close association with the famous New Urbanists Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and ended up writing books and giving speeches on New Urbanism and architectural design. He’s in heavy demand for speaking engagements, and one of his books on architectural design has been the best-selling architectural book at Amazon.

It’s not new information that the economy has wrought havoc on the practice of architecture at the same time that many new forms of communication have sprung up. So what’s a poor architect to do to attract clients in this high-speed digital world?

Steve has thought long and hard about this, and he’s written a book -- New Media for Designers + Builders -- that is just being released as in the Apple iBookstore.

The book is focused on marketing strategies for selling architectural services in today’s world using the many powerful digital tools that are available to anyone. Steve has very specific recommendations for how to use new media like blogs and social networks to promote your business.

He takes you through each one and shows how each has been used effectively, and how you can best implement these for yourself.

Steve preaches Patience, Generosity and Connectedness as a better approach to traditional marketing strategies. The book is best read on an iPad, and it’s an example of what Steve talks about in using new media. It’s a combination of book and interactive software, and it sits in the middle of a linked world.

Find the book in the Apple iBookstore. It’s not up yet, but it should be shortly.

First lesson in the book is teaching old guys asked to do reviews - How to provide links.

Steve's website
http://www.nm4db.com

You can purchase the ebook for $9.99 on his website. And see a general outline of the book's topics.

Suggestion: Steve - it would be nice if there was a sample on your webpage. Or if the tabs on the menu were more descriptive than just bulletin points. I realize if your book gets on iBook a sample will be available. But it seems reasonable to provide one on your own website or at least expand the heading on your website. There's nothing on the website that entices me to purchase the ebook.

Good luck.

Thanks to both of you! And as Alfred noted, New Media for Designers + Builders has gone live. Here's the iTunes link: bit.ly/NM4DBiTunes and there's a Kindle version as well: bit.ly/NM4DBKindle Anyone who has an iPad should get the iTunes version because the iPad interactive books are far more fun than regular e-books could ever be. Also, please feel free to leave a review there if you like.
