Green Build - Stimulate Econ 1 1/2 greater then Fed Rec bill
A very interesting part of the report on the first link states:
http://www.greenerbuildings.com/news/20 ... efficiency
The report says a targeted investment of $50 billion a year for a 10-year period could produce the big savings and reductions described. In addition, say McKinsey and the USGBC, almost 900,000 jobs would be created.
"This confirms a critical path forward that we have long championed. Harnessing the engine of green, energy efficient buildings can cost-effectively drive tremendous improvements in our economy and environment," USGBC President, CEO and Founding Chairman Rick Fedrizzi said in statement.
"Green building can stimulate the economy at a level one and a half times larger than the federal stimulus bill. In terms of climate change, a commitment to energy efficiency would be the equivalent to taking the entire U.S. fleet of passenger cars and light trucks -- more than 200 million vehicles -- off the road."

Green technology can have an incredible stimulus on the economy, much larger then an artificial federal stimulus bill, as the money for this green technology is not only public, but also comes from private sources, thus alleviating and reducing the public debt from the equation.

Other projects which have been proposed, once built, will also have an incredible affect on the economy and growth, such as posted here in this global project:

The stimulus on the economy from this project alone would be even more massive then the green building and efficiency expanded nationwide. It will bring in so many related technologies and the possibility for exploration of space as well as thousands of new related companies, spurring also a new era of growth and prosperity. And the cost would be 16 billion a year over a period of 10 years, to bring a net value of 1.6 trillion over 10 years, creating also just as many jobs.
However, in comparison, the cost of expanding a green building program would be much larger:
And the capital for this global project mentioned would be a combination of public and private as well. Preferably, with a priority given to funding it solely via private capital. The green building program would require a combination of public and private capital as well, as mentioned above.
