Broken Balloon Text Tool

Postby JTD » Wed Mar 07, 2018 5:15 pm

The WildTools Balloon Text is causing PowerCadd to crash (or at least freeze sometimes) when I attempt to use it. Can't recall when this started but I suspect it is was after upgrading PC to 9.1.8.
Anyone else having an issue?

Mac OS 10.13.3
PowerCadd 9.1.8
WildTools 10.1.3 v5

I had that problem running High Sierra. I back tracked to Sierra and the problem went away. I'll wait until I am convinced it has been solved prior to upgrading to High Sierra.

This is a font issue that has become a problem under High Sierra.

The Balloon Text tool uses the font assigned to the PC text tools.

You can start by using the Font book app to get rid of any problem fonts.

Then assign a font you are sure is good (Times Roman?) to the PC text tools.

For some users this has fixed the problem.

For myself, I’m sticking with Sierra.

Thanks, Alfred.
Assigning a new font to the Balloon Text Tool before using it has solved the problem. Not sure how I'd go about getting rid of "problem fonts" as I don't know how to identify such other than trial-and-error. I just assigned another font and so far so good.
