This looks like a pretty telling graph...
| Quote: | What 3.6 Million Jobs Lost Over 13 Months Looks Like
February 6th, 2009 by Karina
http://www.speaker.gov/blog/?p=1683
This chart compares the job loss so far in this recession to job losses in the 1990-1991 recession and the 2001 recession – showing how dramatic and unprecedented the job loss over the last 13 months has been. Over the last 13 months, our economy has lost a total of 3.6 million jobs – and continuing job losses in the next few months are predicted.
By comparison, we lost a total of 1.6 million jobs in the 1990-1991 recession, before the economy began turning around and jobs began increasing; and we lost a total of 2.7 million jobs in the 2001 recession, before the economy began turning around and jobs began increasing. |

It's been good therapy for at least 40,000 years. I hooked my neighbor on "it", he bought a set of chisel the other day, and has set up shop in his basement, watching every woodworking thing he can find on the web. He runs a demolition/excavation business. It's been a tough winter. _________________ n/a |

I didn't get a huge sense of optimism from the Presidents first press conference. Fear mongering?
Carter was a true wimp, and so was the enconomy, and ... _________________ n/a |

Looking around, that chart seems about right, with peoples attitudes.
Perhaps an attitude adjustment would be the right fix?
or maybe better architecture? this did start with housing. _________________ n/a |

My homie, Charles Darwin would have been 200, happy belated birthday. and 65% of people still hate the man. So many idiots out there, plenty of work available for wack jobs, I guess.
You're sounding kinda doomsday there. ATS ???
You're making me feel sad now too. _________________ n/a |

65% of people hate a man born 200 years ago ? somehow that does not seem to get anybody anywhere.
don't you begin to wonder if the banking crisis is precisely that - a crisis caused by and involving the banks ? in other words, is it a crisis that only affects us when we are involved with/ensnared by the banks ?
since banks in Britain now offer nothing to depositers, the entire function of the banking system starts to look a little strange.
but remembering that this is an architecture forum, the really frightening news is that an architect is in imminent danger of becoming Prime Minister of Israel. An architect ? Indeed. Bibi Netanyahu has a degree in architecture from MIT. _________________ Richard Haut has worked with the architectural profession for over 25 years and produces the weekly Richard Haut's Competitions, which has given architects details of many thousands of projects for which they can apply across Britain and Europe. |

Richard,
Please expand on your opinion regarding this statement of yours....
"the really frightening news is that an architect is in imminent danger of becoming Prime Minister of Israel"
Good, bad, indifferent?
As for the banking 'industry' I wholeheartedly agree with your point.
F.I.RE
(Finance, Insurance, Real Estate)
Segment of the economy responsible for the current sh*tshow IMHO...
Off a cliff indeed, at least some have skiis under their feet
Who knows if we'll 'stick the landing'

I heard the 65% somewhere on TV, so it must be true. The fact remains that most people are in fact, stupid.
A gazzilion dollar bill would fix this, make more money, inflate away, live for today. _________________ n/a |
