I have both the Broderbund Home Architect v4 and the Punch home design v5 (I think).

I bought the Home Architect v4 because Punch fell well short of being usefull for additions to our house, and the Broderbund crap is little better.

I get the impression they are paid-for demos as both companies offer you upgrades to their "real" design software running into the $400+ mark.

If the upgrads you paln are extensive then springing for the high-dollar stuff might be worthwhile but who's to say it will be better than the cheap stuff??

An exapmple wioth Home Architect is the roof pitch and overhang. It is fixed for the entire roof. If you say 4:12 then all of the roof is 4:12 and that can make for some messy roof profiles. It is useless.
