Is your framer acting as your general contractor? Did/Does your bank allow you to act as your own general contractor. The first bank turned us down because my pencil was to sharp, and they wanted a general contractor involved to insure the house is finished on time. We have dulled the pencil, found a GC willing to help (to the tune of $16000, and asked a second bank for $100/ft^2. I hope to close in a week. Do you have any concerns with shifting of the soil for the footers. I have been advised to sub out the footers, if something was to settle and the footer was to crack I would not be sol if I was to do it myself. By subbing it out I can point a finger and have a chance of recovery. What state are you building in? Have you done your own design work or did you sub that out? Your project parallels mine almost line for line.
I'm surprized more that more people don't build their own homes.
