Posted by Steve Molloy on March 22, 2004 at 10:57:26:I am not an achitect, but I wonder if one could explain to me why every suggested house plan in the USA seems to begin with the palcement of a greatroom, which takes us 20% to 25% of the available square feet, in the center of every plan?
Even those plans with living rooms, dining rooms and hearth/sitting areas in the family area STILL plaster an area-eating family room in the middle of everything. Is it out of code to present a plan without one?
I guess that's why it is best to hire an architect. Still, it would be nice to shop some ideas going into the planning.
Thanks for listening. I feel better.
