Message - Married in two weeks after closing, can't be on house title?

My fiance and I have been building a house for the past 5 months. We'd expected to be married by the time it was finished, but due to circumstances, our date was set for July 4. We are supposed to close on the house exactly two weeks before the date. I am not on the mortgage because it's a VA loan (and at the time we started the process, I still had another mortgage on my credit that I had to get title-transferred off--which I've since done).

They are telling us that there's no way for me to be on the title. That the only way would be if we refinance the house once we're married. That seems ludicrous to me.

The title people tell me that it doesn't make a difference, that through marriage to him, since he's on the title, I'd have a stake on the house. I wonder how my legal rights would be affected by that though.

My fiance is angry as he's told them all along that I should be on the title. He's ready to tell them to take the house and forget it.

Csn anyone offer any insight or advice?
