Woman were not allowed to smoke until mid 30's. All woman had to choose between either there kids, as there were not many affordable good quality child care workers, or a job. Sometimes it was between sports and family. Alicon Hargreaves was a mountain climber, and was so good that she managed Everest. She had to choose between somethng she loved and her family. The last mountain she climbed had a steep edge, and she fell to her death. People started sayng that she should have stayed home with the kids. But how many men have died climbing mountains. Nobody has ever said that they shouldn't have done this sport because they were fathers.
Christina Sanches was one of the first women to try out for Bull Fighting. Men verbally abused her, and told her to 'get back to the kitchens.' Countries are often rated by the GDI-(Gender-related Development Index)and alot of places like Saudia Arabia and Kuwait, have very low GDI's and are extremely wealthy. Women over there are not even allowed to drive vechiles. But it is now being said that no country in the world, not even britain or USA, treat women with the same respect as man.Womans sports are rarely watched because people think men are better at the sports. Woman sports are actually increasing in effort and points more than ever and are not far behind the males. In horse riding and swimming, woman actually come out 10% better than most men in average.The International Olyimpic Commitees Working Group for Women in Sport are trying to make this better but they haven't succeeded yet. Women who play football have to work for there money, as well as a part time job and sometimes with kids, just to survive. Men get asked to play in a game, and get thousands just to do so.
