I am having the same trouble with MAX 4. I bring 3D .dwg files from AutoCAD into MAX for some work and then export the objects as a .3ds. When I open those .3ds files in another application, I wind up with only one of each object. I cannot use the .iges format; the models need to be .3ds files when leaving MAX.

Any suggestions?
