CATIA uses many different extensions, for the different types of files they create. Let me explain all of them:
CATIA V4 standards:
1) *.model - this is the raw model file
2) *.export - this is a "ZIPPED UP" file which usually contains many model files and/or "CODE PAGES" which define the country and language the CATIA file was written in
3) *.dlv3 - see *.exportCATIA V5 standards:
1) *.CADPart - this is the raw model file
2) The rest of the V5 names are like *.CATAssembly, etc. V5 names are usually easier to understand.I used to be a CATIA Administrator, which is why I know this.
Hope this helps.
