I've got a few leads for you:

If you follow the link below to the Architectural Types page of the Great Buildings Online, and then after the page loadss in your browser, scroll about halfway down, you'll find a section called "American Architecture Timeline". The links in this list each bring up a list of major American buildings given time period, decade by decade, for instance.

If you look at a few buildings across the time period, then maybe you can form your own opinion about "changes in American architecture over last hundred years."

Of course there are also many good books about the history of American architecture. My favorite survey is American Architecture by Whiffen and Koeper. You can find library catalog info and an Amazon link for this book at the Architecture Books page of the Great Buildings Online.

Maybe someone else would like to give you a more direct answer. In any case, good luck with your project!
