Barry is an architect and architectural computing consultant in southern California. He is a really nice and very smart guy, who I am pleased to have known since before the first version of DesignWorkshop. (That means a REALLY long time!)
For the last few years, Barry has included DesignWorkshop in his Apple-sponsored seminars on architectural CAD, and we've received literally thousands of leads from the attendee lists. This time around, the new leaner, meaner Apple made paid sponsorship a strict requirement - not just what are the best products for Apple users.
As a result, we had to make a business decision based on the quality and quantity of leads we would get versus the costs of sponsorship at various levels. Unfortunately, our sales experience is that most seminar attendees have been computer-newbies who are a long, long way from getting into 3D design. Many who are just deciding whether it's time to get their first computer! Even though we really applaud what Barry does, the sponsorship did not look cost-effective for Artifice at Apple's rates, so we regretfully had to decline to fork over the bucks.
If anyone goes to one of the seminars this round, you can tell me if Barry at least mentions DesignWorkshop...
