Could someone tell me why the Washington monument is build the way it is ? I mean, why did Robert Mills choose a 600 ft square shaft of all things? Why not a building, large statue of Washington, or something of that nature? What does that 600ft tall square shaft have to do with George Washington anyway? Please e-mail me at cedenson@tdc.redstone.army.mil with any info.
Thanks,

Eric
