If getting your model on the grid is the issue, you can easily do that by going to layout>preferences>dimensions. In this dialogue box there is a place to select the overall grid size. I just tried it and set a grid of 200'x200'. Not sure what the limit is (none I think!) but your "request" seems possible. Frankly, I work with thebackground grid off.
Glad to see some new blood here asking good questions. I look forward to exchanging good solutions, tricks of the trade, etc. We all learn and benefit from a good exchange!
