select the cube.
go to Edit>Wallify. you will then enter the thickness of the walls of the cube.
once entered you will end up with 4 objects, one of reach side of the cube.
"tops" and "bottoms" will have to be added but you can select a different material for each object then group it and wa-la, one grouped object with different faces....
give it a try!
Maybe there's another way but that's the way I would do it....

note to Artifice: perhaps in future versions it might be nice to have an option where you get "walls" on al lsides....then the top and bottom would not have to be added!...again, an option not a default.....thoughts?
