Just a suggestion:
Limit the file size of your posted images to less than 100k. I don't, and I don't think other people, want to wait more than a couple of seconds to view an image. I'd like to suggest limiting the image size to no more than 500 pixels in the horizontal direction. Many of the viewers using the internet still have screen resolutions of 640 pixels, or less, in the horizontal direction. People are posting images of up to 500k and a resolution that I can't even totally view with a screen 1024 pixels in the horizontal direction.
In addition, I recall Kevin had suggested saving your work usign JPEG compression set at maximum quality. I would like to suggest that everyone use a medium setting. The loss of quality is minimal, especially for web use, and the benefit for faster downloads far outweights the loss.
For instance, an image I posted of an Open Office on the User Gallery is 400 pixels in the horizontal direction saved at a medium setting and yielded an image size of 36k. Also, don't forget a DPI of 72 pixels. Kevin went into a great discussion of image resolution, however, I think a few things might have been lost or misunderstood.
To recap my suggestion with some simple guidlines:
= or > 500 pixels in the horizontal direction
72 DPI
medium JPEG compression setting.
File size less than 100k
There is some great work showing up in the gallery and I'd like to view it without taking a coffee break.
Thanks
