Hello there I am currently having similar problems. I have tried all eports in autocad but still end up with thousands of polygon sides rather than flat or smooth sides. I hear that you need something called autocad datat exchange to convert a dwg to an iges file so it uses nurbs rather than polygons. But I cant afford to buy this, and im running acad 2004 which you cannot get this product for.
