I would like to use the terrain machine. But where would one get such fine data From a computer topo drawing with spot elevations and pre-computed topo lines, I could transfer some of the grid elevations to a spreadsheet. Does anyone know how to extrapolate even increments (automatically) in Excel between two cells? This would be a great machine, but looks like a lot of work.. Hopefully with a G3 333(128 MB) I might be able to use such a complex model of an acre site?? Is there a way to adjust the grid spacing--greater or less accuracy & complexity?
Now I could extrude the topo lines, but prefer some smoother model. I might try the PowerCADD tools to blend objects to give me intermediate topo lines. Or are there techniques in DW to to join the stair-step topos to something more like a slope? Something like:if you stretched a rubber sheet over the topo model? You could eliminate the original polygons and might save memory that way.
