Hello Dan,

Thank you for asking this question which comes up often.

There are a couple ways to go about this. Both methods stat with a single wall object which you will make into two wall objects.

The first way is to use the Trim Tool to split the wall in two. The is easiest to do in a plan view and then just trim right down the middle of the wall. The potential problem with this method is if you have openings in the wall, they will be lost.

The other way is to resize the wall to half its original thickness, then duplicate the wall and position the duplicate appropriately. If the corners of the wall are mitered you will have a little reshaping to do, but the openings will be preserved.

After getting two objects, all you have to do is assign a different material to each object, and render.

Please let us know whenever you have further questions.

Thanks,

Mike Wheeler
