Using mechinical desktop coiled springs are fairly easy. Help tops will work there. Created a "3d path" then create a "3d profile" in this case it would be a circle, "extrude 3d".
A simple coild spring can be made on lesser CADs, but creating a taurus, then slice it in half, as if you ate half the doughnut(vs cutting it to spread chreamcheese on it). Rotate one half, with the rotation axis perpendicular to the cut plane. You'll have to expirment on how to get hte right angle. Then just copy those 2 shapes over and over to get the desired number of coils.
Its not perfect, but it looks like a spring.
