Transfer AutoCAD 2004 to 3D Studio Max 6.0

I wish to transfer 3D object produced in AutoCAD 2004 into 3D Studio Max 6.0. When I import the file in the objects are fine, but they are rendering funny. The attached material is warped and basically isn't what I want, no matter what changes I make to the settings during the transferring of the files. This is only happening to the imported autoCAD objects. Any suggestions?
