1. Make sure you have high res textures.

2. Read everything you can get you hand on that has to do with lighting techniques.

3. Bottom line the modeling is important but lighting and materials are first and formost the most imoportant part of you results.

Brazil, Final Render, V-Ray, Viz-4, Max-6, AutoCAD 2005

Remember you can get demo versions of these products for 30 days and you will be learing on some of the best software out there.
