Is there any better documentation on lighting than the "manual"? I'm trying to model a retail store with lights (tubes) at 13' aff and am not getting any shadow casting....(using lightworks)...have used point and firelight because spots don't seem to get it done....

Also, I assume that lighting really bogs down memory....if the phase is hidden does it help? How much memory do i really need for a 1+ MB file to render with shadows and lighting and texures? I have 32mb and have virtual memory turned on....

I am trying to do as photorealistic models as possible.....any hints not contained in the online help?

sorry for all the ?'s.....

ps I'm really try ing to do mirrors too....Mike (tech support) told me I needed Radiance......too much $ (unix) and dont want to go linux route.....
are there any others that will work....friend has product by specular...think its Infini-D...would that work? just trying to find an inexpensive workaround to getting realistic renderings includong pretty refind materials like mirrors etc.....

thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

Gary
