ONLY A few of your rafters will contact the 12\12.
These will have compound angels.after you land your ridge pole which will be cut at a forty five against the roof, you will use your framing square and set a cut at 7inches to 12inches with the square on one side of the board mark your 12inch with the short end of the square going across the board perpendicular to it pivot the square at the 12" mark until the 7" mark touches the rafter at one edge.that is your angle cut for your rafter to but up to the ridge pole.also the exact same cut parallel to this at the other end needs only to be cut at a 45%angle and you have your end hip rafters.
