Dear DesignWorkshop Users,

I'm glad to announce that DesignWorkshop Professional 1.8, planned to ship January 6, 1998, at MacWorld San Fracisco, will be a full "dual-platform" product.

In other words, DesignWorkshop Professional 1.8 for Macintosh, and DesignWorkshop Professional 1.8 for Windows, are one single product, delivered together in a single combined package, at a single affordable price, with a single user license.

This means that the cross-platform upgrade price to DesignWorkshop Professional 1.8, for registered owners of DesignWorkshop 1.5 and greater, is actually * ZERO * . (Note that as usual, there is a nominal charge for shipping out the new upgrade CD-ROMs).

Artifice has made this positive change to our previously announced upgrade policy in order to ensure there is no risk to you in buying DesignWorkshop for Macintosh today, even though you might be switching to a Windows platform tomorrow (whether by choice, or by fiat).

Who among us can afford the risk of being locked into any one side of the computer platform wars? There are too much great designs to be created!

Our goal is simple -- to provide the design tools you need, where you need them.

Note that while DesignWorkshop 1.8 will be a dual-platform product, each DesignWorkshop package includes exactly one registration number, providing one user license, for use on either a Mac or a Windows system -- not for using on two machines at once, just because they're different! If your office is expanding while making a platfrom transition, you should plan your DW upgrade and purchase budgets accordingly.

If you believe in the DesignWorkshop Professional vision of design-oriented CAD, and if you find the friendly Artifice upgrade policies to be a refreshing change from the software business as usual, you can help us by making sure that your company keeps an up-to-date user license for every active DesignWorkshop user.

We hope you will enjoy this change in our cross-platform upgrade policy, designed to maximize your productive satisfaction with DesignWorkshop Professional.

I look forward to receiveing any comments you may have.

Warm regards,

Kevin Matthews
