When DesignWorkshop opens a model it calculates the overview to show pretty much everything in the model from the overview view. If your model is small and in the distance in the overview view you have another object far away from the rest of your model, probably by accident.

Drag a selection rectangle around your model to select it all. Then use the Layout menu, Hide Objects command. Now use the Edit menu and do a Select All. If the Object Info window says anything other than "No Object Selected" up at the top it means you have a distant object, which is now selected. You can find it and keep it, or delete it as appropriate. If you keep it, move it to its correct location.

Now use the Layout menu Cancel Hide command to bring your model back. Save, Close, and reopen the model. The view should now be fine, and the viewing tools should work normally.
