Custom Log Home Rendering
By Jeff Morgan, modeled in DesignWorkshopDear Jeff,
Thanks for keeping these specific issues on the burner. If they are affecting you, you can be sure they are affecting others, too. And thanks for explaining the effective work-around you have for opening images for tracing.
Both of the areas you've mentioned, JPEG, TIFF, and other image imports, and Light and Textures Hidden Line rendering, are areas where we rely on code libraries licensed from other vendors. That's not your problem, but it does cramp our options somewhat.
In the case of image import, now that with QuickTime 4 Apple has finally provided full-peer support on both Windows and Mac, we're re-writing the image import/export functions to use the QuickTime libraries. Why QuickTime? because the code from Apple is higher quality than the code we're getting now from a third party, as well as being elegantly cross-platform. (BTW, MS doesn't provide anything comparable at all.) Unfortunately, re-coding to use a different image library with a very different integration mechanism is not just a quick bug fix...
Thanks for your comments and patience.
Best wishes,
Kevin Matthews
