I still don't have a really satisfactory way to do this other than to do the Fit Object Upward, which only fits properly to one of the roof slabs, and then trim and delete the part that protrudes thru the opposite roof slab.
The only other way I have tried is to trim the wall slab, forming two halves of the gable wall, then Fit Upward each half.
There may be a better way (I hope) that yields an accurate result, but so far no one has volunteered one.
