I keep seeing people, especially contractors, using Chief Architect ( not actually seen the program in use, tho). Then an architect friend was talking about being impressed by it. It is apparently very fast (in ease of use and in time to develop perspectives) and totally set-up for typical home design.

I know something like this may not be able to do more creative designs, but what is its worth in creating quick 3d views and perhaps even construction drawings? It might be even worthwhile just for kitchen layout presentations or is it too limited to the basic American home styles?

I wonder if I am missing the boat. Has anyone checked this out or can they put this idea to rest? I wonder how much architects and draftspersons are being shown up by contractors whipping out kitchen remodel views at initial consultations.

Similar applications are SoftPlan and DesignCAD or possibly MiniCAD with the architectural modules.
