Hello Keith:

No Keith, don't steer the poor guy into that dinosaur Pro-E. Yes it is powerful as a design engine but the folks at Parametric are in the dark ages when it comes to the basics. The process of installing this beast is so bad as to be humourous. The Netscape driven help system is a bizarre implementation to put it mildly and the user interface begs to be windows compliant and in Parametrics imagination I suppose it is. I could go on and on about the poor function implementation in the beast as compared to SolidWorks but I would run out of breath before running out of complaints. I have Pro-E 2000I2 and SolidWorks and for 90%+ of the work SolidWorks 2000 runs rings around Pro-E.
