We've released a new update to the DesignWorkshop 3D object libraries. The free downloadable self-extracting archive contains three library files, each of which contains some special objects.
"Special-Light Receivers" contains some basic slab objects. What's special about these is that their top surfaces are subdivided into smaller faces. As a result, these slabs will show much better lighting effects when rendering with the standard QuickDraw 3D lights and textures rendering.
"Special-Snakes" contains some objects which are ready-made with multiple faces in linear/symmetrical configurations. These are great for reshaping into complex forms which would otherwise have to be built from many separate blocks in DesignWorkshop. By reshaping a snake, you can keep down object counts, optimaize memory usage and rendering speed, and improve the fidleity of complex forms.
"Special-Spheroids" contains a series of ready-made sphere-ish single-object solids of increasing fineness. Anywhere your models call for spheres (or solid domes) these objects can be resized and reshaped and trimmed for improved performance and accuracy.
These are mostly intended for the use of intermediate and advanced users of DesignWorkshop, but they're out there for everyone, and we hope you'll find them useful. Let us know what you think!
